Educated
Newborn Care Specialist & Postpartum Doula Services
Babies are delicious bundles of joy that also deprive us of getting a good night’s sleep! A Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) is a trained professional with expertise in the newborn stage of development. Our team of skilled Educated Newborn Care Specialists have college degrees, certifications, years of professional experience, and knowledge of infant development. An NCS will typically work night shifts or 24/7 shifts for 6 weeks to 6 months to help you and your newborn create a routine as you settle in at home. (Learn more about how a Postpartum Doula differs below!).

Let’s talk a little about…
How Postpartum Doulas are Different from Newborn Care Specialists.
We know this can be confusing!
POSTPARTUM DOULAS FOCUS ON FAMILY.
A Postpartum Doula provides holistic support to the whole family in the first few months following birth, through education, basic baby care, mother care and household assistance. The focus is on the entire family versus primarily the newborn. They may assist with laundry, meal preparation, and additional needs of the family while also caring for the newborn.
NEWBORN CARE SPECIALISTS FOCUS ON NEWBORNS.
A Newborn Care Specialist provides unique expertise in all aspects of newborn care, parental education and support. An NCS’s job is to help nurture and care for newborns while providing guidance and education for the parents. They are generally not responsible for household duties unrelated to the new baby or for the care of other children in the household.

STEP ONE.
We’ll start by getting to know all about you.
Before the baby arrives, and after you’ve signed on with us, our placement team will “visit” your home via a Zoom consultation. This is an opportunity for us to meet your family and learn about your unique infant care needs, wishlist, goals and philosophies. While all of our Educated NCS’s are infant care experts, a personal touch is our promise — it’s our mission (and joy!) to find the respectful and intelligent specialist you’ll be able to align with and trust.
STEP TWO.
Our team will screen candidates.
From our own network and beyond, we seek out educated, nurturing newborn and infant care specialists and Doulas with years of experience, skills, and the utmost integrity. Candidates must share the values of Educated Newborn Care Specialists. We interview each candidate and call references before you meet with them. We conduct thorough background screenings upon hire and verify that all of our candidates are CPR/first aid certified. Plus, all of our hires in California are TrustLine registered. The safety of your newborn baby matters most to us!
STEP THREE.
We’ll set up your interview.
This is where things get really exciting! After we have done our research, we send you the resumes and letters of recommendation for our top candidates. These are the Newborn Care Specialists who match your skill requirements and schedule, and who we believe will complement your family’s personality and lifestyle! We help you set up interviews and you meet our team of trusted experts.
